Rain? What rain?

No one ever wants it to rain on a day they've spent the last year planning. But rain is a fact of life and sometimes it will rain on a wedding day. The key is to not let nature dampen your spirits (bad pun intended) and Kimberly and Michael took the wet weather in stride and enjoyed all their wedding day at Dennis Vineyards had to offer.

The rain cleared out earlier enough in the day for the couple to still hold their ceremony outside in the vineyard. It was a beautiful ceremony as Kimberly and Michael said their vows underneath the gazebo while their friends and family watched underneath their umbrellas. The green grape vines added a wonderful backdrop to the whole scene. A wedding is so much more than the planned details of the day. It's about two people and two families coming together and nothing can come between that.

One of the things I love is seeing how much time and energy is put into making your big day your own. Every little detail means something and I thought it was amazing when Kimberly told me that she herself had made many of the table decorations, adorned with her beloved Carolina blue. As a Tar Heel fan myself, I can appreciate the guests playing corn hole on UNC boards.

Of course, details are not everything and what really made this day special is Kimberly and Michael along with their family and friends. You will hear me say this a lot, but it is absolutely true, every wedding is unique because of the people involved. I loved the moment Kimberly spent with Michael during their first look, after a morning of watching the forecast, and the reassurance that everything would go smoothly on their day. I loved watching the pride in Kimberly's father as he waited to see his daughter in her dress before walking her down to wed Michael. I loved the laughter and joy I saw on the dance floor as friends and family came together to celebrate the union of these two amazing people. The Zac Brown tribute band, 20 Ride, provided a boot stomping soundtrack for the night so the dance floor was rarely empty. In addition, the fine folks at Dennis Vineyards make terrific wine and one of the perks of having your wedding at a vineyard is you won't run out.

Many thanks to my second shooter for this wedding, Jason Miczek, for helping me tell the full story of the day for this wonderful couple.
