Questions You Should Always Ask Your Wedding Photographer

Questions for Wedding Photographer

When selecting vendors for your wedding, the key is comfort and trust, especially with your photographer. They are not just vendors; they are the storytellers who will be by your side, capturing the essence of your day.

It’s more than just taking photos; it’s about creating a mutual trust. This trust enables the photographer to capture your genuine moments and present you in both your best and most authentic light.

As you navigate through the choices, consider what you truly desire in your wedding imagery and seek a photographer whose vision aligns with yours. Understand that while price and style are important, the essence of great photography lies in a shared connection and trust.

How would you describe your photography style

My style is primarily photojournalistic and candid, capturing authentic moments as they unfold. I blend this with epic portraiture to ensure you have a mix of spontaneous and beautifully crafted images. It’s about finding the perfect balance that reflects the essence of your wedding day.

What’s it like to work with you on a wedding day?

Working with me is like having a storyteller who captures every significant moment without intruding on the experience. I focus on the genuine, unscripted occurrences, ensuring a relaxed atmosphere so you can fully enjoy your day. It’s about creating a seamless experience that is both enjoyable and memorable.

What do you love about photographing weddings?

I am passionate about telling stories through my lens, and weddings provide a unique opportunity to do just that. Each wedding is like a grand news event, filled with emotions and significant moments waiting to be captured. My love for photography is driven by the desire to document the joy, love, and essence of your special day, creating memories that last a lifetime.

Have you shot a wedding at our venue before?

It often helps to have a photographer who is familiar with your venue and knows the best spots nearby for photos. However, if they’ve never shot a wedding at your venue before, that isn’t necessarily a deal-breaker. Good photographers thrive in new locations. You can also always ask if they’re able to visit the venue before the wedding to find the perfect photo backdrops or you can also schedule an engagement or bridal photo session at your venue.

We work regularly with many great venues, and are even preferred vendors at some, but it is always an amazing opportunity to photograph our clients at new and exciting places.

What happens in the event of an emergency?

Be sure to ask any photographer you are considering about their backup plan in case they are ill or unable to be at your wedding because of an emergency. This may feel like an awkward question, but it’s important to know there’s a solid Plan B in place so you’ll get the wedding photos you want, regardless of unexpected circumstances.

Going back to our main goal: to make awesome wedding photos for our clients, we make sure you’re covered no matter what. Ask me about the day my son was born!

What’s included in your wedding Photography packages?

Most photographers have standard packages or collections as well as extras you can add on. Be sure to ask what’s included and not included in the packages. The number one thing to check is the how long your photographer will be at the wedding. Do you want the whole day covered, or do you just want the ceremony? Are the digital files are available or do you need to purchase prints? Is there an engagement session included.

Be sure to ask about any fees for travel or other costs associated. Online payments are convenient, but often add an extra fee from the processing companies. Check local sales and use tax laws, these vary, but are based on your photographer’s location and where the final product is delivered. In North Carolina, photography is a product.

Many of our collections include with full day coverage of your wedding since our ultimate goal is to tell the full story of your wedding day. We then deliver high quality photos for you and your family to enjoy for years to come. We’re always happy to talk more about all of our services.

How long have you been photographing weddings, and how many weddings have you shot?

It’s a great idea to ask about your potential photographer’s experience level, as well as their workload. You probably are not comfortable trusting someone who’s never photographed a wedding before taking pictures of your big day. Inexperience is not always a dealbreaker, however, and all talented photographers did start somewhere. It just important to know what you can expect from who you’re hiring. Photography is like many things that seem easy and most people can make a great shot every now and then. But who are you trusting to make the shot at the moment it matters the most?
